Jazz in the Park Festival, unfolded in the weekend 21st-23rd of June in Cluj-Napoca, has had a big impact on the community of big Romanian music festivals. This impact resulted from the great number of participants accumulated over the 3 days, and also from the feedback the locals and authorities gave. In total, the event had about 20.000 participants from Cluj, despite the nasty weather from the 21st 23rd of June.

Friday began with vintage, book and antique fairs, and in the evening, the great scene hosted the inauguration of the concerts performed by the Big Dimm A’Band orchestra, followed by Cobzality, Byron and Maria Răducanu. The bad weather pretty much ruined the atmosphere from Saturday evening, and so only Gabriela Costa and Alex Man had concerts. Alex Mușat&White Blues took the scene Sunday afternoon. Anne&Band was the last band to have sung in the outdoors of Jazz in the Park, because the weather forced the switch of the location of Cuantune, Otros Aires and Waldeck’s concerts to Hotel Continental, concerts that had about 1500 guests, the entrance having no fee.

Jazz in the Park Festival meant a lot of classical music, Răzvan Sum (cello) and Bogdan Vaida (piano) had conerts in the Casino Building Saturday, respectively Sunday afternoon. Magda Puskas held a concert behind the Casino, at the Folk Stage.

”For a first edition, Jazz in the Park Festival made a really good impression and we are glad that we could send the message that the Central Park is a special place, and the people proved to be civil. In spite of some small decisions, those of moving some concerts and the unfavorable weather, the event looked great and we have the public to thank for.”, declared Alin Vaida, the manager of the festival.
