It seems that Jazz in the Park has truly managed to grow this year. The director of the festival, Alin Vaida, explains its evolution: “It’s natural for an event organiser to wish for a bigger, more complex project as time goes by. For our third edition, not only will we use nearly all of Central Park, but we will also organise concerts in another 3 locations downtown. Trying to minimise the overlap of certain activities, we arranged them in order to fit a week long schedule.
Central Park will host three stages: Main Stage, in the park’s main lane, where 12 concerts will take place; Youth Stage, behind the Casino building, where a jazz contest will be held, born out of our sheer wish to encourage the debuting bands of this genre; and Chillout Stage, in the hammock area, where several DJs will tend to the atmosphere during the day.
Aside from Central Park, we’re also prepping three new locations for the festival. The stage set up at Grigorescu beach, on the bank of the Someş river, will host six concerts between the 1st and 2nd of July. This space has been thought out in the manner of several other urban beaches around Europe. For both classical and jazz music enthusiasts, there will be two ticketed concerts held at the Hungarian Opera, on the 30th of June and the 2nd of July.
Other details about these locations will be revealed shortly!”
