Starting with this year’s edition of the festival, the friends of Jazz in the Park have been invited to get involved in the development of the local community through music. Because of this, Fapte Association (Asociaţia Fapte), the organizer of the festival, and the Cluj Community Foundation (Fundaţia Comunitară Cluj) have created the Jazz in the Park Fund.

The fund raising campaign lasted until the 31st of August. Donations were made through text messages that charged 2 euro each. 222 such messages were sent, rounding up to the sum of 444 euro. The organizers decided to direct this money towards a promising, passionate music student and thus created the much needed scholarship. The beneficiary of the thoughtful donations that make up the Jazz in the Park grant is Cristiana Dragoş-Roman, a 13 year old pianist that has won over 40 prizes in both national and international competitions to this day, and who, according to her professors, is capable of becoming one of Romania’s top musicians.

The SMS campaign also included a prize for the generous people that decided to participate: a Pegas bicycle especially designed for Jazz in the Park. The winner of the bicycle is Bogdan Covaliu from Cluj-Napoca.
